What do I wear?

Ideally, you wear as little clothing as possible so the light rays produced by the sauna can pass deep to the skin, However, as with all treatments at our centre the client is always in control so you can decide to wear what ever amount of clothes you feel comfortable wearing

How often do I need to sauna?

As with all treatments that answer is specific to each person, however as a general rule we encourage our clients to do a package of 6 sessions in the spring and 6 in the fall.

Who is allowed to go in the sauna?

Before trying the sauna a brief consultation is required with one of our doctor to ensure that it is appropriate for that client to use the sauna. For example, pregnacy is contraindicated with this type of sauna as the heat passes so deep to the skin.

Sometimes I have trouble breathing when it is warm, is far infrared sauna a good idea?

Each new client is unique, however the sauna time and temperature are completely up to the client taking the sauna. The best way to determine comfort level is to call and arrange a time to try a short session and see how your body responds. If at any time you felt uncomfortable you can turn the sauna off and exit the sauna and the surrounding cooler air will help restore a more comfortable environment.

What is Infrared?

Infrared (IR) radiation is electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength longer than that of visible light, but shorter than that of radio waves. The radiation penetrates the body and heats through a process called conversion, instead of heating the air around you.

Infrared light, as radiated by the Sun, lies between the Visible and Microwave sectors of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Are Infrared saunas safe to use?

Infrared saunas use safe and effective radiant heat just like the sun's soothing warmth. Radiant heat is more efficient because it warms you, not the air around you. Your body directly absorbs as much as 93% of the heat generated.
Far infrared radiation (FIR) is considered harmless for human. Infrared heaters are even used to heat premature babies in hospitals incubators. But some people with certain illnesses and conditions should not use an infrared sauna or should use it with great caution.

The infrared radiant waves penetrate the body's tissues to a depth of over one and one half inchs. Its energy output is tuned to correspond very closely to the body's own radiant energy that our bodies generate.

At what temperature setting should I have the infrared sauna?

The recommended temperature is between 120 and 130 F. We do not recommend setting it much higher than 130. This goes for any infrared saunas from any manufacturer.

How long should I sit in an infrared sauna?

Not exceeding 40 minutes at a time.
